The original Barclays Live (BHL) platform was not designed with the end user in mind. It was designed to meet the needs of the business and to be monetised by charging for access. The users of BHL were forced to pay for access to most of its research reports, thus creating a barrier where clients could not access all the relevant information they needed in order to make educated decisions backed up by expert studies.
The new platform is simple to use, it has a clear visual hierarchy, with client search results being at the top of the page. From the client search results all relevant reports are displayed with icons representing each of our teams. This enables clients to search for studies by subject matter or team area. Within each report there are tabs to display the document contents, the expert panel on which it was based and also a summary of key findings.
